How Can Sensors Improve Our World?
Nexleaf was founded by CEO Nithya Ramanathan and CTO Martin Lukac, who met as graduate students at UCLA’s Center for Embedded Network Sensing. Inspired by the early potential of connected devices—including the first smartphones—they shared a belief that data could drive meaningful, lasting change in global health. That vision became Nexleaf Analytics: a mission-driven organization using technology to solve real-world challenges and strengthen health systems where it matters most.
Inspiration from the Ground
Nithya’s dissertation work studying arsenic in the groundwater in rural Bangladesh changed the trajectory of her life.

Iterating On-the-Ground
As co-founders, Martin and Nithya bring firsthand experience from some of the world’s most remote and under-resourced regions. From installing sensors to troubleshooting in the field, they’ve encountered the same challenges that frontline health workers face daily, such as unreliable connectivity, damaged roads, and unpredictable conditions. This deep, on-the-ground insight drives Nexleaf’s core philosophy: build technology that works in the real world, exactly where it’s needed most.
Building for the Future
Nithya and Martin continue to lead Nexleaf with courage, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact. As technology evolves, especially in areas like AI, they remain focused on ensuring that innovation serves everyone. Their leadership drives Nexleaf’s mission to make resilient, data-driven health systems accessible in even the most under-resourced regions, proving that cutting-edge solutions can work where they’re needed most.
